  • Trip to Mont St Michel

This past weekend was a long holiday weekend here in France, with Thursday being the Day of Ascension.  Some good friends of ours offered to take all THREE of our kids for us so that Lance and I could get away for a bit.  We left Wednesday afternoon and came back late Friday afternoon.  Here are some photos from our trip:

We really enjoyed our trip to Mont St Michel.  We stayed at a nice Bed and Breakfast only a few kilometers away from the Mont.

As you can tell, it was pretty windy, esp. in the afternoon when we left.  But thankfully it wasn't too cold.

After Mont St Michel we went to a sea-side town up the coast called Saint Malo.  It was beautiful.

The old fortress still runs all around the town.

We even had some time on Friday afternoon (on our way home) to visit a famous cathedrale in the town of Chartres (not far from Paris).   Some consider this old church to be the most beautiful one in all of France.

This was the view from our cafe window where we had lunch!

We had a great time!  Hope you enjoyed the pics!

  • August - Packin' it up and Visiting Friends!

The month of August was an unusual month for us!  Not only were we packing and saying good-bye to people, but we also got to say hello to some our friends who live in other places in Europe!  Here is a photo of us at a Chinese restaurant with some of our friends who now live in Portugal - Dan and Rachel Smith with thier girls and Rachel's parents the Smiths.  We had such a nice visit with them, even if it was brief!  Next came a visit from the Wilbanks, who recently moved to Italy!  We had a nice visit with them and their girls as they vacationed at Disneyland!Yes, it was the month of AUGUST and this is how the girls had to dress for the day at Disney!

    Cannon the little mooch!

Theme for the month - laundry and packing!

Lance's parents came to help us out - and boy, did they!  Anyway, these are photos of the happy reunion that took place when they arrived.

Here is Kirianna's little friend, Raphael, who came over special to see her and say good-bye (or at least "til next time"

    happy)

Lastly, Aliyah enjoying herself on the swings.  I loved the look on her face here, but it is hard to see now.  Will have to work on a photo crop of it.

Next post:  The busy moving month of September!

  • A Few Explanations....

Just thought I'd take the time to remind you, my few faithful followers (of the blog, obviously - not of me, of the fact that one of the main reasons I keep this blog is so that certain family members who are NOT on FB (ah-em, the parental units) can see photos of the family/daily life.  So for the rest of the world who is on FB, you may experience a bit of deja-vu looking at photos that I post on both sites, though you might find a bit more of the story behind the photo.

For any of you who didn't already know, we will be moving to a new town on the 3rd of September (and the girls will start at their new school on the 5th!).  So I'm not sure how long it will be before we have internet access again.  Hopefully not too long!  That is why I wanted to get this updated before we moved.  Plus, we will be pretty busy getting settled in for a while.  We have been blessed to find a house that is fairly new and actually has cupboards, an oven and a stove top in the kitchen!  It also has 6 closets!!  (A fairly new concept here in France).  Now, that said, the current renters are taking all the shelves and hanging bars with them - leaving us with 6 very empty closets.  So we will be busy running everywhere trying to get our closets taken care of.  Also have a pantry in the kitchen - with no shelves, of course.  So it will be a while before I can really unpack everything (hard to put things away w/o shelves and hanging bars!)  Real practical, huh?  Unfortunately, the renters are also taking thier dishwasher with them, so I will have to get used to not having one again for the first time in 8 1/2 years!  Oh,well.  That's something I was used to before moving to France so here we go again - at least for a little while.

That's it for now as it is the end of the day and I am, as usual, very tired.  I have been packing and sorting like crazy and feel like I am running in circles at times.  Seems like the more I pack, the more I see stuff that needs to be packed!
